The Situation

The RICD Wheelchair Project brings hope and mobility to families across Thailand, where disability support is desperately under-resourced. A wheelchair is more than equipment—it is an open door to education, employment, and community life for individuals and the loved ones who care for them.

As a grassroots organisation, the Wheelchair Project runs entirely on donations. Through your generosity, we have directly transformed 50,000 lives in Thailand since 1999. Every week, our allied health professionals and trained technicians custom-fit 75 people with the exact equipment they need.

How IT Drives Our Mission

We cannot deliver mobility without logistics. Our purpose-built software allows a small, global team of specialist volunteers to manage international equipment donations, coordinate volunteer staff, and track distributions nationwide. While all mobility equipment is donated to and by the Wheelchair Project, our internal systems need an urgent upgrade to keep up with demand.

We need critical technology upgrades to ensure no recipient is left waiting. Every tax-deductible dollar goes directly toward:

1. 4 replacement barcode label printers to produce equipment labels that don't degrade over time.

2. 2 high-speed document scanners to drastically improve data processing for incoming mobility equipment applications.

3. An upgrade from a small 3D printer to an industrial-grade 3D printer, allowing us to manufacture more custom parts locally to ensure more wheelchairs remain in use.
