The Situation

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their potential. However, some children face significant barriers to education due to circumstances beyond their control, including family instability, trauma, domestic violence and the impacts of alcohol and other drug challenges within the home. These experiences can affect a child’s confidence, emotional wellbeing, ability to engage at school and long-term educational outcomes.

For many vulnerable families, accessing additional educational support such as private tutoring is financially and practically difficult. Children fall behind academically while also carrying the emotional challenges of navigating complex home environments.

Transformational Tutoring exists to provide a safe, encouraging and accessible pathway for these students to receive the support they need to thrive.

The Objectives

Transformational Tutoring provides:

• Free, personalised one-to-one tutoring and mentoring support for disadvantaged students.
• Improved literacy and numeracy skills through targeted learning support tailored to each student’s needs.
• Confidence, resilience and positive engagement with education through consistent encouragement and mentoring relationships.
• Trauma-informed support that recognises the individual experiences and challenges faced by vulnerable students.
• Students and families with positive community support networks that encourage long-term educational success.
• Monitoring of student progress through academic, attendance and wellbeing measures to understand impact and continually improve the program.
