The Situation

In Bagan, central Myanmar, there is a lack of employment opportunities due to escalating numbers of disadvantaged youth as a result of many decades of political, social and economic disharmony. There is community need for the youth of Myanmar to develop the skills necessary to obtain jobs in the hospitality and tourism sectors. Sanon Hospitality Training restaurant is a social enterprise in Nyaung U in Bagan, seeking to address these skills shortages and providing employment opportunites.

The Objectives

1. Provide 24 disadvantaged youth per year with the opportunity to learn the skills and knowledge of the hospitality and tourism industries to allow access to employment and support themselves and their families.
2. Develop a profitable training restaurant which will be sustainable within three years with all profits reinvested back into the training.
